Cruella, Coming to Clinic: Our 101 Dalmatian Halloween Takeover

Tomorrow’s the day — and I can already feel the chaos brewing. Our dialysis team is going all out for Halloween this year, and let’s just say… the clinic is about to go to the dogs.

We’re dressing up as 101 Dalmatians, and yours truly will be stepping into the role of Cruella de Vil — clipboard, red lipstick, and all. (Don’t worry, no puppies will be harmed in the making of this workday… just a few egos if someone’s costume falls apart before first shift ends.)

It started as one of those casual “we should all dress up this year” moments during a morning huddle. Normally, those ideas fade once the alarms start beeping — but not this time. Within hours, fabric paint, spotted scrub tops, and plastic dog ears were flying across the group chat. I swear, my staff could organize a full-on parade faster than I can approve a PTO request.

I can already picture it — the first wave of “pups” clocking in, tails wagging, ears flopping, and me trying to manage treatments while channeling my inner Cruella. Between barking techs, spotted nurses, and a few confused patients, it’s bound to be a mix of chaos, laughter, and leadership in costume.

But that’s exactly the point.
Because while I may spend most days herding humans instead of Dalmatians, this little costume event reminds me why I love this job. Teams that laugh together work better together. And sometimes the best way to build morale isn’t through meetings or memos — it’s through a pack of matching costumes and shared silliness.

So tomorrow, the clinic floor will transform into a black-and-white playground of spots, scrubs, and smiles. I’ll be leading the pack — Cruella style — and fully embracing the madness.

Stay tuned, because whether it’s chaos or comedy, one thing’s for sure:
The Scrubs & Shift Notes crew is about to make Halloween one to remember. 🐾🩺🖤
